Ashley Brown

My name is Ashley, I am 5 1/2 years old. I live in Springboro, Oh with my Mom, Dad and sister Brittany. I also have a dog named Callie, a wild puppy named Abbey and a beautiful cat named Snowball. I was dianosed with Aicardi Syndrome when I was almost 3 months old. I almost always have seizures everyday. Lately my seizures haven’t been doing very well. Some days I have as little as 2 seizures and other days I have about 10 seizures. I am waiting for my insurance to approve a V.N.S. (Vagus Nerve Stimulator) which will hopefully help my seizures a lot.

I love it since I moved to Ohio because I live down the street from my Grandma & PaPa who spoil me rotten along with my sister. I have the best preschool teachers Cindy and Cathy who always make me happy when they come to my house and work with me. They always go the extra mile to have really fun and messy activities. I also love it because they always let my sister particpate with me too. They love me and I sure do love them!

I have a Physical Therapist that comes to my house for an hour a week. I also have an Occupational Therapist that comes to my house for an hour a week. My Preschool teachers come once a week for an hour. I have a Visual Impaired therapist that comes out once a month for consulatation. Finally, I have a speech therapist that comes for an hour a week as well.

I have made a lot of progress over the years. When I was a baby I couldn’t even hold my head up. Today I can hold my head up pretty well. I can sit up by myself for short periods of time. I now can suck my thumb and hold a Winne the Pooh beanie baby while I am sitting in my bean bag chair.

have had some medical ups and downs. My seizures have done really well for the last two and a half years, but they are getting worse. I have had kidney stones and lithrotripsey. I have scolosis, but my curve is remaining at about 30 degrees, I have a TLSO backbrace that I use sometimes and whenever I am weight bearing I always wear my AFO’s. I like to move myself in my Pony Walker and I just love it when people talk to me like I am a big girl.
