Meet

Anna Rae Aadsen

Hello, I am Anna Rae Aadsen. I live at Kiester, Minnesota with my parents Neil and Tammy Aadsen. I was diagnosed with AS when I was three days old. My current medicines are Keppra, Lamictal and Clorazepate.
I am currently in third grade at United South Central Elementary School in Wells, Mn. At school I enjoy music, riding bike and a scooter. I also like hanging out with the kindergarten classes.
My favorite things are music, light, soft furry animals – stuffed and real. I like it when our cat Mr. Tease sits with me. I also like small lap dogs.
My dislikes are cold weather, having my hair combed and my teeth brushed.
I like going on vacations with mom and dad. Our traveling companions are usually my grandma and my great aunt. My favorite vacation spot is Texas. I especially like going there when it is cold here in Minnesota.
I have two wonderful PCAs, Shelly and LeAnn, who help take care of me so mom and dad can have a break.

Very little has changed since my first entry. A year ago I got a new wheelchair, a Quickie Iris. I had it at the 2008 conference at St. Charles. We all it very much other than it is heavy to lift in and out of our current van. We are in the process of looking at new a van. Hopefully we will have it when we come to next year’s conference.
The only other thing that comes to mind it that I lost my PCA LeAnn after about 5 years. She quit due to health reasons. I do miss her. I still have Shelly and she does a very good job.
School will be starting here in a couple of week’s. I will be in 4th grade at USC Elementary School. I went to summer school there during the summer. I am looking forward to seeing my school friends again.

I wanted to tell you all of our new friends the Bennett family – Jason, Jodi, Bryan and Ashlyn, We met them at WalMart in Mankato, MN July 4th. We were walking through the store when they spotted dad and me, in my Quickie Iris Wheelchair. They were interested in my chair as they were going to be looking for one for their daughter Ashlyn. Ashlyn is 4 years old and a little over a year ago she had her first seizure and was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. Rett has a lot of similarities as AS. They have a Caring Bridge page if you are interested in their story. Go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/ashlyn
